Right Experience versus High Quality Employee?

We have had quite a bit of turnover on our team lately, and I need to backfill employees that have left the company. Generally, is it better to hire an average performer but someone with the right experience who can hit the ground running quickly, or someone with the right traits that you can train on the systems and products but that will take longer to ramp up?

It's definitely a personal choice. For me, I'd rather have good personality and right traits that I can train on systems and procedures. Often I've run across employees with right experience that want to do things the way they were done in their previous role and department. They tend to be less open to feedback and coaching. Hope this helps!
