Do I, or Don't I?

I recently had an interview last week before the world of social distancing, and quarantine. Typically, this would be around the time I would like to follow up on the position with HR. The issue though, it was for a non-clinical position at a hospital, and I just know there are more important issues at hand for them right now. I just can't help but feel I would be doing myself a disservice if I did not follow up on the role, but I don't want to seem insensitive to what is happening right now either. How do I navigate through this, do I, or don't I, follow up with HR right now?

Definitely follow up after a week, with a statement of understanding of the current world situation. You're not bothering them. You're showing that you're proactive and responsive. Plus, maybe they'll give you some insight on the hiring process in their response that will put you at ease. Good luck!

Follow up anyway and let them know your WFH capabilities if you didn't cover that in the interview already.

Honestly I never follow up...I consider it a “take it or leave it” situation. As bad as it sounds I have never had to chase down jobs I am meant to have, ykwis?

Yes, following-up is a must and I would do so as a human first. These are unprecedented times so showing empathy and compassion is really important, even in work and business situations.

Absolutely! They are hiring for a reason and just because they are 'busy", I assume that they need that role filled! It is all about the wording, and I would suggest you start the conversation with "How are you doing? " Good luck!

Absolutely follow-up, but acknowledge your understanding and appreciation for the current environment. I work for a hospital system and the majority of employees are working remotely from home. Our HR staff is even conducting virtual interviews thru Skype. I hope it works out for you.

Thank you I recently had a second interview with a health system in IT and was wondering the same thing. Should I follow up- thanks for your comments.
