Work for a Fortune 500 company or a Growing company?

I recently got offered 2 jobs. One career opportunity is at a highly reputable Fortune 500 company at $34k salary in an entry level position with full benefits. Everything is metrics based, and I have heard mixed reviews on working there. The salary is non negotiable and I would need to commit 1 year to that position before moving up in the company. The second job offer is at a fast growing federal credit union. The environment is everything I would want to be a part of. The people are super friendly. They are offereing me $28k for an entry level with a promotion after 6 months. What are your experiences on working at a big or little company? I am a new college graduate wanting to make the right decision, without leaving money on the table.

I would compare fringe benefits such as health insurance contribution, you can end up spending a lot of your salary on employer insurance if your not informed about what is expected. I would also factor in the value of paid time off, how much vacation/sick/personal/holiday do you get. Is there a retirement contribution? Other benefits? Everything has a value which must be factored in. $28K is barely minimum wage in my state, I am not sure where you live but will you be able to get state sponsored health insurance, it may be less expensive than employer covered because your income is so low? Do you have skills either employer is interested in, you mention entry level but that can mean many things. You could ask for a sign on bonus or a financial review after a period of time.
