How to stay motivated?

So I love the company I work for but I work remotely on contract work. How do you stay motivated when there is such a huge turn over rate of the good professional people worth talking to? Even just having someone to talk over a cup of coffee is nearly impossible. Any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks!

As a technical writer, I am rarely treated as having a role in anything.

I am a project manager by trade so I tend to host meetings, training, etc. I tend to come and go depending on my schedule or work load. Makes it fun for me. I do participate in any potluck I can by bringing in yummy food and help them out when I can. That being said I will admit on busy days I just hide with my headsets behind the screen and type like a mad woman LOL they are used to that too :)

What is your job title or what kind of work do you do?

Coworking spaces have really helped me! The cheapest memberships usually just allow you to attend events which can definitely help break the everyday cycle of being in the same place, et.c

I’ve been there! I started to coffee shop hop and was exponentially happier about it. There was something about being around people that gave me so much more energy and motivation to work. Not sure if your line of work allows a little bit of background noise but it was so worth it for me! Keep us posted!

Agreed! While I’m surrounded by strangers, I hear funny conversations throughout the day and will randomly have one-off conversations with people to help social surroundings.

That sounds like a great idea! Thank you. I tend to be all about my leftovers and tend to work through lunch. Getting out there will probably be a bit helpful too.

Have you considered occasionally using a co-working space? I've varied between a part-time membership and community membership at The Riveter. They started in Seattle, but are expanding in many cities. It's a great way to meet people and just have people to chat with on days I don't want to work solo.

Thank you for the advice! I am spoiled by having an office space on site and share it with some great people. For instance, today is a potluck day. The issue is more they cannot comprehend, nor care to know, what I do so those substantial conversations aren't happening as much as I need.
