I’m fairly new to my current company and my boss and I have drastically different views on how to manage projects and lead meetings.

I have been going with my boss’s directions and creating slides with graphics for every meeting, sometimes spending hours wordsmithing with my boss. The meetings are so formal that it is hard to brainstorm. We also, in my opinion, over communicate reminders and send so many emails that people don’t read them anymore. I mostly work within the company and rarely meet with outside vendors. I truly believe that the effort to look put together and professional for our colleagues is hamstringing our projects and that we are loosing buy-in, not to mention that I simply don’t have time to build slides for every meeting and do my real work. I feel like an outlier since others on my team readily manage to our boss’s expectations. As the direct report, do I share that I think the management style is negatively impacting our team? If so, any advice on how?
