This full-proof hack helped me bounce back after my dream job rejection

I recently got a second interview for a job that seemed perfect — but then found out that they had hired someone else. I was devastated. While feeling down on myself, I found some advice that's helped me bounce back: reframe your negativity. Instead telling myself I was a failure, I reframed my experience and told myself it was just a setback. My career wasn't over just because of this one rejection. This was just one stepping stone to landing something I'll really love in the future. What kinds of tricks like these work for you? How do you stay positive in difficult circumstances?

I'm sorry to hear this Irene! I recently went through this. I had five interviews with a dream company all the way up to a SVP and they checked my references. Last step, right?! Everything seemed good to go. But I didn't get it. I. WAS. DEVASTATED. I was definitely not in a positive mood that day, lol. I basically allow myself one day to pout, cry, scream--whatever--and then the next day, it's back to the drawing board. I realize that this position wasn't meant to be mine, and something that is for me is out there and I'm closer to it now. I also like to read other posts like this on here or LinkedIn to commiserate with others who are going through it too!

My favorite question to ask my clients when things feel like they're not going their way is "how is this happening for you?" I fully believe there's somethin to be learned in every situation!

I think it is great you know what your dream job looks like! I would take it as a good sign you are getting multiple interviews, it means you are getting your foot in the door! These are all great signs for the next time your dream job comes around. Just keep focused on looking out for the next dream job posting and learning what you can to improve from the last interview process!
