2020 has without a doubt been a different kind of year, to say the least. So much change took place. For some, it's been a bit tougher than usual. I, myself, have had some tough moments. However, I'd be lying if I didn't say that 2020 was one of the best years for me on terms of growth and transformation. My life vision became 20/20 clear! I became in tuned with wanted I wanted in my life and career, set my goals and worked towards them every day. Every single tribulation I went through this year has made me a better person and I have triumphed!! For that, I am SO grateful!
What amazing lesson did you learn about yourself, life, work and or others this year that has catapulted you into a better you?

I learned the amazing lesson of how resilient I am. Not only did I get to jump right into keeping my son on track for learning (normally i only push extra lessons in the summer) now its full time even though he has virtual learning. I also had to apply this to food when groceries were being limited I had to say ok we can buy two roasts and cut it down. And even with my sewing and art.
It was take a big breath this year and say WE can do this I will carry us through!

I love that! Resilience is, in my opinion, such a great quality to have. I always think about that saying, "You don't know how strong you are until strong is the only choice you have". Super powerful! It highlights and reinforces our strengths that at times we may dismiss and or forget we have because of all the things we have going on.
I too learned the importance of managing what I have and can do versus what I think I need and want.
Great lesson in I am enough, and I can make it through the storm.
Thank you for sharing! Peace and blessings!

An imperfect person trying to be my best

I have definitely adapted better to the "go with the flow" lifestyle. And it's needed to happen, so I'm glad it finally clicked within me.

I love that! So happy it clicked for you! Sometimes we may think our circumstances are tragic, but if we dive deep into each of their lessons, I have found that I always learn the why it was needed and how I can apply it. Reminds me of that saying, "bloom where you are planted". Makes me think about how every situation has a beautiful silver lining. Thanks for sharing! Peace and blessings!

I am sometimes embarrassed to admit that 2020 has been an amazing year for me. I slowed down for the first time in 10 years and really took stock of my life, my goals and every aspect of my life. I decluttered, cleaned and downsized my home which gave way to assessing my spending habits and budget. Without restaurants and vacations and nightlife, I've focused more on self care than ever and spent some money save for my vacation that couldn't happen and fixed up my home office so it's inviting and beautiful. I designed an exercise plan that was deliberate and repurposed my gym membership fees and applied them to online yoga and meditation classes and equipment to keep it interesting (yay Peloton!) I am now in the process of interviewing life coaches for 2021. These are things I'm doing to revamp my life for a new normal. I never ever saw this coming but am so grateful it did.

OH MY GOODNESS!!! My sister of Light, how AMAZING!!!!! Kudos to you First! First and foremost, do not feel embarrassed to admit this was your year! Yes, its been sad for a lot of people, but we all learn lessons and grow at different times in our lives. No one knows your story or history as well as you do. It took you 10 years to get to where you are right now. YOU DID IT! (KEEP GOING!!!) Now that's a beautiful accomplishment!
If I may say too, 2020 was one of my best years! I can literally backtrack to about 12 years just having really rough years. But I always saw the lesson within my speed bumps, applied what I learned to life, corrected my actions, fine tuned my thought process and moved forward. In 2020, I reaped the benefits of all the seeds that were planted within me and all the self work I did. So be proud of you and all you've accomplished this year! Remember that the sun doesn't apologize for doing what it does best, SHINE. And you shouldn't either! Peace and blessings!

I am also feeling a little shy about how great this year has been! Some how it does not seem right to flaunt it, but at the same time I think it's good to share successes and wins. So conflicted!

While I didn't reach most of my goals, I grew as a professional and personally. I started in my current department full-time in February (transitioned from another division). Through hardwork, I was promoted to manager by September! I learned to say "No" and "Yes, I can do this but then I can't do X" to project requests. I learned time management is key!
Personally, we bought a new RV (we are full timers), we bought a new car, our finances are finally at a place that we are not worrying about money, and my relationship with my husband is at the all time best.
Overall 2020 s great for us!

Wonderful! One of my favorite strategies when setting up goals for myself is to really think about all the details and be as specific as I possibly can. Then putting those goals with the specific details on paper. I feel that when I write thinks down, it helps me connect to my heart center and visually, it allows me to see what I am working towards. There's just something about writing what you want that helps manifest it! Best of luck this year!

The "gift" that 2020 gave me was a realization of how I am REALLY perceived by upper management in my company. As one who only got raving reviews, when things went south last year and I had health issues including a 4 month "short term disability leave" followed by a mandatory furlough of working from home in 2020 due to "health vulnerability," I was passed over for promotion 4 times in the past 2 years, and have realized my total worth to the company is as a "warm body" to be there to answer questions and deal with unruly clients and a surge in activity. I am so done with this position and ready to move on.

@Anonymous- I tend to stay too long out of loyalty and fear of not finding work fast enough to support my family and pay my bills. It’s so frustrating when you give your all to a company (sometimes at the expense of your relationship) and then you get that moment of clarity that nobody is invested in you and all of the accomplishments and contributions you’ve made are disregarded. I was disillusioned for awhile when this happened to me many years ago. It opened my eyes to the reality of the situation and unfortunately I have encountered much of the same elsewhere. There are good businesses out there though and sometimes even a great manager. Towards the end of that job, it was the most stressful time in my life because I was making an impact and loved my job snd would have stayed forever (underpaid no less) had their disrespectful behavior not forced me to leave. Leaving on my terms was a blessing though. Let the politicians play their games. Bring your talent where you will be appreciated.
It’s time to start interviewing with other companies and move on to bigger and better things. You will be relieved once you go.

You sound determined and thats exactly what you need to make your next move. Though I know its easier said than done, stay positive. Don't think about the things that may put doubt or fear into your mind. Strengthen your faith and truly believe everything will work out as it should and that you and your family will be more than ok. I'm rooting for ya!!!

Thank you, to another anonymous. I obviously don't want anyone from my company seeing what I have posted here. We have many of the same anxieties and appear to be moving in similar directions. I know for a fact that I will be much happier and relieved when I go. I also responded to D., as you can see below (I think), as I feel she might have confused you with me.

@D. Sepulveda - I have already started looking. I can't afford to retire and I can't afford to quit without having something else lined up. I have begun working on the application process and tailoring my resume each application as much as possible. I am getting more positive results, but only first interviews so far. The one with the most promise was a state job that they removed from consideration about the time I was expecting a call for a 2nd interview. I have applied to another job that I am ideally suited for according to the job description, and they have acknowledged that I meet the requirements. Now I am waiting for an interview. If this doesn't work out, I will move on to plan B which is to find seed money to open my own non-profit. I am already searching for grant money, and have a few ideas. There is a possibility that I can do this with assistance from a research fellowship as I finish my doctorate.

Hmmmm.. your plan B should be your Plan A. Start that business! Why build someone else's dream when you can build your own?!
