I tailor my resume per job application but running into issues as my LinkedIn doesn't match my resume. Due to my eclectic background, I've worked in a lot of industries.
My LinkedIn is focused on 85% of what I'm seeking but then other roles pop up that are of interest but are in past industries. It seems that despite tailoring my resume, companies are focusing on LinkedIn. This has been an on-going issue in my search and I feel that trying to make it appeal for all isn't pleasing anyone. I'd appreciate your advice as my background includes entertainment, PR and publishing so I'm focusing on brand marketing that's a common theme connecting those sectors.

I have a similar situation. It wasn’t until I chose one path from that background and focused all efforts on that, that I was able to land the role best-suited to me. Happens to be a better role with much better pay and growth potential. It sounds counterintuitive to restrict yourself when you have so many options bc of your background but it even helps with the interviewing— your answers flow bc you are consistent. HTH
