I saw an interesting interview this morning on my local news. It was regarding virtual learning and failing class rates. I personally felt this issue needed more investigating.
Crucial questions such as are these students repeating failed grades
Is this all schools combined or just high school level.
Has none of the schools thought of intervention study groups
I know alot of us are swinging by our toes but wasn’t there more prep for troubled students?
The mother who got interviewed was exhausted stated she was... that compelled me to think Does this woman have a support system? Or is she single handed in this mission?
It leads me to wonder as women we shouldering soooo much... do we have the support we need and for our students, do we need to reach our, and do we need to unite more for our students.
My student is the only one here which makes him my sole focus. I love him and will fight hard to not be bucked off the education wagon and boy will he fight me. We work hard here and I even supplement in extra studies and expanded studies. There is not a day that goes by he doen’t hear how lucky he is I can be involved.
While my student is suceeding I’m not bragging its more than hardwork here I’m worried about the troubled students and wore down parents.
And further wondering is there not exactly more but efficient methods to further these kids

I’ve noticed a lot of younger students have been struggling as well as some high school students. I’m pretty sure schools tried to come up with a more efficient way during the summer but since it’s still fairly new there are still ongoing problems. More parents have been able to go back to work now so we have to factor that even if working from home. Kids are out of their element but I think the best way to go about helping kids succeed is Assistant teachers, tutors, and parents possibly stepping in more than they may like. It would be awesome for example an assistant teacher to have a maximum of say five students that they connect with on a one on one base every week and as needed. I wonder since students aren’t heavily monitored are they focusing like they would be in a classroom setting. I’m also curious about how this year has affected their mental health and students really just being over it right now lol. Everyone’s home setup and support system is not the same and I guess people should realize being physically at school was very important than we thought. Our system has ran so long with traditionally learning at a physical space starting as young as daycare age with now having to do online which was seen as untraditional, so now for the meantime we have to essentially make them relearn a system or unlearn a old system however you want to look at it. And it may only be temporary but who knows right now. Sorry for the long response.

Don’t be sorry this weigh is what helps me reach out more to friends and try to help students. We are lucky here our son uas been very resilient and is doing great w grades. But there’s alot of defiance and me having to play the bad guy constantly checking in on things. Its alot of work

I can only imagine how hard it is playing that role. I would love to see more parents helping each other out in their own community and just everywhere. It’s always nice to have someone to talk to or just get more resources. I know the school year has already started but I hope your son have a good rest of his school year and this will definitely be one for the books for him. And he will appreciate you in the long run.

I have found with virtual learning there are many perspectives. I’ve been lucky that my children are doing really well with virtual learning. Yet I know others who are struggling and I appreciate the idea of parents helping each other.

Thanks for raising this important topic up. Moms all have the opportunity to help each other. To get help we must ask for help so others can support.
When a friend of mine who owns her own business had a no show nanny with a big deadline I offered to pick up the kids and bring them to my house. I knew if the kids had friends they would bother me less. I also knew her family was cautious like mine and not out socializing all the time.
My kids are missing the socialization that builds social skills more than the curriculum itself. There are so many ways to work on curriculum outside of class assignments with apps these days.
