I'm in the final stages of possibly landing a job at a phenomenal company out of state, in an area I'd love to move to. My SO and I would rent out there but we need to sell our house first. His job is flexible so no issue there and we don't have kids. Luckily we live in a desirable area where the houses…

A lot of Moms I know pick up work within then the schools- Cafeteria, front office, sub teaching, classroom aide. On a side note, I work a company that I am able to take time off for lunch with my child, field trips, etc. Hope this helps.

I went back to work full time when my youngest (special-needs) was 4. She was relatively stable at that point (no longer in and out of the hospital), but still had lots of medical and therapy appointments. I was solo parenting by the time she was 6, so I had to juggle everything myself. I worked a couple of jobs that gave me some flexibility. One was short-term contracts and I could say yes or no on a day to day basis, another let me work part of my hours in the office (typically 6 hrs M-F), and make up the rest of them at night or over the weekend. Eventually I went to work for a state agency. While I had very little flexibility, I had far more generous leave so was able to make it work. It was tough, but once my older kids could drive, they were able to help some as well.
