Hi Lucia, Thanks for asking! A peer specialist is someone living in recovery from mental illness (sometimes also recovery from substance abuse and/or homelessness), who helps others recover - whatever that looks like for them. Right now, I work at a homeless shelter and assist our residents, women ages 45+ living with a mental health diagnosis, with all sorts things, including securing benefits and housing. ~Stephanie

Hi Shawna, Nice to meet you and thanks so much for your response. I would like to keep working at the peer level. I'm definitely open to a role that is not strictly a peer specialist, since that is pretty niche-y, but not as a therapist of any kind. I really enjoy the role of peer because of the more casual contact I can provide and role modeling I can do. ~Stephanie
