That's been my call time 2 (or 3, if I'm feeling ambitious!) times a week for the last few weeks.
I'm not a morning person.
Grunting is pretty much my language before 9 AM.
So why would I be doing such a crazy thing?
Yoga.
5:30 AM Hot Power Vinyasa Yoga.
I never thought I'd be a crazy morning workout person, but I'm loving it.
Today's yoga epiphany went a little something like this...
(holding pose) this isn't so bad....I can do this...okay, this hurts...seriously, how much longer are you going to make me hold this, lady (As I swear at the yoga instructor under my breath.)
Then wise words were spoken by that same lady I was swearing at.
"If you're struggling, come back to the breath."
And I realized this: on my yoga mat, I'm strong and I'm flexible but I'm not always focused.
My mind tends to wander to what I just did or what I have to do or something random like how pretty the color of the lights are, you know, life stuff.
But this was such a great metaphor for life lately.
I've realized in life, I'm strong and I'm flexible but sometimes I lose focus on what I'm trying to accomplish and how capable I actually am of accomplishing it.
So when life gets hard, just like in yoga, come back to you.
No matter what that looks like for you.
Happy Friday!

Mindfulness seems so simple, but why is so hard? For those of us with Type-A personalities who have legitimate spiritual gifts in multi-tasking, it's so difficult to just slow down and be in the moment. I'm not flexible at all so not sure how much I'd enjoy the yoga thing - but the hot part sounds very nice. I should try it sometime.

Ain't that the truth, it's so simple and yet it's so hard. That's one of the reasons I love my yoga practice, it reminds me to be present! And the secret of yoga is you don't have to be flexible to start. I'm a trained instructor so I'm a little biased but I highly recommend it :)

Inspiring, thank you for sharing! I did not really like yoga until I tried hot yoga. If I am going to be working out and holding challenging poses, I want the extra sweat as proof! :D

My daughter and I just started yoga (via zoom of course) in the mornings this week. After the first session I was renewed and feeling inspired to carry on and keep my faith that this too shall pass. I suggest that you give it a try at least once or twice. Take care everyone stay well.

I believe it is vinyasa. I am a beginner my daughter is more advanced then I. She can move into a headstand! I'll get there.

That's awesome, you'll definitely get there. I'm so happy you started. Yoga can be an intimidating thing to start.
