What's with all the lists of things to do and not do?

Anyone else sick of getting emails from FairyGodBoss that are just lists of things never to do or that are supposedly creating problems in career or elsewhere, or things you "should" be doing? I used to like this website, but now I read these articles and it seems like every little thing I do is wrong or I'm not living up to others' expectations. Not convinced these articles are useful. My career seems to be doing fine and I don't pay attention to any of this.

Thank you to the original poster and everyone on this thread for providing feedback. At Fairygodboss, we aim to provide information and advice to our readers that is genuinely helpful. How we provide these resources is important to us, especially given how difficult work and the job search can be in these unprecedented, challenging times. Our goal is to present our content with the appropriate context and nuance, with an understanding that our audience comes from different backgrounds with different needs, perspectives and interests. We are aware that this nuance may not always be expressed as effectively as we intended; we are currently working to address this issue based on your helpful feedback. Thank you again for sharing! This feedback is truly helpful in helping us calibrate our voice and message to appropriately match the values that we stand for as an organization.

Hello. I haven’t been a part of the community very long. What kind of e-mails did you used to receive? What did you like about the FGB community before? I think this is a great opportunity to “coach up”.

There was another post about this a few weeks ago. You can see more comments about it here (assuming this link works!): https://fairygodboss.com/community-discussion/7g_DOP27L/post-titles#reactbar-ntHu_albr

Agree. The framing is often not the most useful in recent articles. I find articles that identify an issue, discuss it coherently, and provide tools and strategies for turning challenges into opportunities for success to be more productive here at FGB and in general. We should come away feeling empowered and informed, not stressed and less confident.
