The Current Hot Topic

Please excuse when I ask this question. I have been out of the work force for 9 years now but I still have my logic and common sense in very good working order. Tonight (5-20-20) I heard on the ABC News that the Ford Corp. closed down 2 of their large factories right after they reopenned them due to the fact that 3 employees tested positive for COVID-19. Now, state with me here. The country has been on lockdown for over 3 weeks, millions of people have lost their jobs, testing for positive results have been going on for approximately 10days to two weeks. Just the past week the country has been slowly reopening. Now if major corporations have been locked down for the entire time until now, and are supposedly taking extra steps for the safety of their 't employees as well as the public, why then didn't they before reopening have their employees go through a complete physical including a full blood test weeks before the plant was scheduled to open. That would give management time to get a report if there were anyone who did show positive results. This could be done without revealing ids outright just use employee id numbers. Once the employees are identifieed if there are any, Management can offer early detection treatment and have them state in quarantine for two weeks just as others have been doing. The employees would be put on disability until they are cleared. Closing the entire plant because of 3 employees is hurting thousands upon thousands immediately when there is no reason for it. Am I missing something or do people agree with me? Thank you

Frustrating for sure. However, testing two weeks in advance of opening up may not have caught the folks who are now testing positive. Also, given the rate at which this virus infects the people who come in contact with it, I can understand them not wanting to stay open. Did they say how long they would be closed down this time?

The way it read in today'a (5-21-20) Pittsburgh Post-Gazette was that they reopenned a day or two later. Which puzzled me even more so as to if they went to resantized the entire factory due to three people wil they be willing to do that if once this it is done and then another three or four people prove positive are they going keep doing this? Or are they just going to do the sections this positive people work in or been in. This entire virus and how it effects the manufacturing world creates more questions and concerns than we ever thought of or had to face before,

I wonder did they reopen the second time will the whole plant working or just parts of it and have they given PPE to the employees working there with that most recent reopening? I expect if all effected by the virus were in the same portion of a plant that they would do a partail shutdown and cleaning but if those effected were from different parts of the plant that the while plant would shut down for cleaning and sanitation.
