We need women everywhere

Hello everyone, it is me again. So, I spent the last week thinking about what I could write about and maybe advice women on this platform and honestly, I got worried because I’m young and still didn’t do much in the business world. Therefore, I figured it out that I could write about my experiences as a woman everywhere I go or where I work. My first and remarkable experience with sexism was in a courtroom. I worked for two years as a volunteer and our work was basically presiding over the conciliatory hearing. It was amazing! I could listen to so many stories and different backgrounds, different scenarios and learn much more than books can provide, because the real life is completely opposite than what we first imagine. It gave me so much sense of humanity. But this is not the main subject today. It was probably the third conciliatory hearing of the day. I was calling the parts to enter the room, professionally and polite, of course – although I don’t need to explain myself obviously – and since I was up, I asked for the documents (we need to ask and verify every information about the parts involved) and I stood there right next to a table full of men and they didn’t even look at me. So, they looked at my partner - we worked in pairs, so one would call the parts of the lawsuit and the other one would organize the papers, etc. – and gave all the documents to them. I was mortified. I’m pretty aware this was not “the end of the world” situation, however, it made me realize that we, women, are still not recognized. My partner was a man in his thirties, so maybe, the table full of men thought he was the main person on the courtroom and perhaps I was just another girl or a student that didn’t know much. What I am saying is this, we need every time and more to fill all kinds of jobs, positions, authorities and then this will be common. The girl in the courtroom will be another one of so many others. It’s 2020, you guys! The world needs to step it up! Best regards, Bel
