Do you get stuck in the research phase?

Somewhere along the way, we have confused passive action with taking action. Researching, collecting information, compiling data, analyzing content, listening to podcasts, taking online courses, and we're feeling quite productive. The question becomes, what do you with all the information you hoarded? Science proves 92% of people don't achieve their goals. Frequently caught in the intake phase, fear and self-doubt overtake us, freezing us from taking action. Do you find yourself in the information overload phase? What can you do to move from intake vs. active?

Yes, I was just talking to my boss about this the other day. I struggle closing out projects. I get so wrapped up in making sure I have gathered everything and know what I'm doing. Then I get to a point where I burn out on it and want to be done, but feel sluggish getting there! Looking forward to hearing some tips.

Hi Katelynn. You're not alone and there are several reasons why we do this. The best advice is to apply the learn and go philosophy to the project. Gather one piece necessary and then do something with it. This cadence will keep the project moving forward and minimize burnout. What you will find is that most times you've 'over collected' information which causes the burnout. Projects and goals are like driving a car, you can read all you want but you won't be able to actually become a good driver until you get behind the wheel. If you want more, you can listen to episode 33 of Make Your LIfe Magnificent the podcast which is all about intake vs. activate. It's been a game changer for our listeners!
