Targeted Job Search

Since I'm having some success with contacting recruiter i've decision to follow the advice of those smarter than me and try a targeted job search. Except, I've never done anything like this and is completely outside my comfortable universe (I'm introverted). Any suggestions?

Hi, doing a targeted job search is great. You can look for your target job description and try to tailor it to your resume. Focus on the skills you have whenever tailoring it to the job post. Another thing that can help is reach out to anyone in your network that has your ideal job, and asks about the specific job duties and how you can achieve them. If you can also participate in Virtual Job events it will help you a lot because you can talk to recruiter one on one, they can tell you more information in the role you are seeking. Wish you the best in your job search!

I have seen a few virtual job fairs, signed up for one but the ones on FGB are mostly geared towards women in tech. I know what company I want to work for, I know what I'm good at, I just I need to know how to stand out in a crowd.

Rebecca, you are already most of the way there. For a standout win, review the company's current performance and strategy and map your skills against their pain points and ambitions. If you can specifically show how your skill set and experience will support them, they would be crazy not to pull you in for an interview to find out more. Note: make sure your highlighted experience is tight and in a STAR (situation, task, action, result) format. Best of luck!
