I just attended a presentation on "Reinventing Yourself" by a supposed career coach. I was horrified when she advised participants to "wear full makeup" during any Zoom networking calls and for all Zoom or in-person interviews. I thought this kind of thinking was obsolete. I'm still amazed that another woman would perpetuate such a sexist perspective. I'd never use her as a career coach, since she demonstrated that she is no longer relevant to the conversation. But, her comment has made me wonder how many people still judge us on whether or not we are wearing makeup.
