How do you know you've made an authentic connection?
Has networking ever felt fake or disingenuous to you?
Sometimes I think we forget that the core of networking is fostering connections.
What do you define as a real or authentic connection? How do you know when you've made one?

I find it is better not to evaluate or put a label on the connection. If we go in with the purpose of learning about others and sharing what we have in common, that is a good start. The more we know about others the more we can connect dots between people and be of service. That in turn translates to others thinking of us and reaching out to help when they can offer something beneficial.

Time always tells. It's easy to see when you have a "spark" or natural chemistry with someone, which is always great. You'll be able to determine if the connection is authentic as life happens and time goes on. Our job is to cultivate them so that they can flourish to their potential.

Agreed — sometimes these relationships thrive and sometimes time makes them fade. How do you re-engage and nourish your connections?
