I am a student and I have 0 work experience. Seriously, zero. Despite my lack of involvement, I feel like I need to start doing something not just for the money but for the experience as well. Can you please share your thoughts on what jobs would be suitable for someone like me who has got 0 experience in work fields? Thank you :)

Start with retail. Retail jobs are plentiful and will allow you to learn while getting paid. Once you get experience under your belt, you will gain more confidence while learning valuable skills.

Apply for internships and co-ops, there are tons of applications for them open now for the summer. Also, check out your school's career office. They can inform you of upcoming job fairs, job postings and organizations that recruit for certain industries, like women in tech. Best of luck!

Agreed, it will be a good idea to get some work experience on your resume. It's tough to get the co-op / internship jobs without any work experience. Unless you have an extremely high GPA (>3.8), would definitely get some sort of part-time work experience. Agreed that retail is good for customer service and sales experience. Another idea is looking for a position on your campus. I was able to secure a part-time position at my university working in one of the offices with the recommendation of one of my professors.

My daughter started with babysitting, then she became an aid to a camp counselor and then a camp counselor. Lots of folks also do lawmowing, snow shoveling and other yard work. And retail is also a great option (as noted above). Good luck!

All of the above suggestions are so good. I would say that what you want to do is build good references for future job opportunities and for your CV. So the goal of any part-time job for you now at this stage in your life (like retail, tutoring or babysitting, volunteering, and internship) is to build a good rapport with the person who is managing you. That person becomes a valuable resource for your one day job interview that you want to land because you can use them as a reference (ask them first). That person will tell your future employer that you are an asset and you are reliable/responsible/etc.

I would go for a volunteering job for a cause that you are passionate for. It would give you experience and references.
