Do you give yourself permission to just be?

I have found it helpful in these crazy times to just give myself permission to just be ( sit outside, do nothing, etc). Any one else?

And it’s sometimes surprisingly hard to do! To just sit and be. Thank you for sharing.

Good way to stay centered and conscious. I always get insights from "just being", somewhat paradoxically.

As I was reflecting this morning, realized how "lucky" I was to have my "family" healthy and together as a "side effect" of the pandemic - think now more than ever it is important to dwell in gratitude - AT the same time - so many great ways to invest time from wellness to home improvement and knocking stuff off the list of home projects

I do that ALL the time. It's a necessary part of self-love and care. If I don't take care of myself, I can't care for those around me so it's as much an investment in their quality of life as it is mine.

In Fred Rogers' book Life's Journeys According to Mister Rogers (Things to Remember Along the Way) there's a chapter titled, Guided Drift that struck a chord with me. Mister Rogers recalls seeing a friend, a freelance writer and asked him what he was working on. "Nothing right now," his friend answered. "You know how it is for freelancers. But at time like this I tell myself I'm 'between opportunities.' That way I don't have to feel I'm nowhere." Mister Rogers goes on to to say that there's a tendency for us to hurry through transitions. We may fee that these transitions are "nowhere at all" compared to what's gone before or what we anticipate is next to come. But you are somewhere...you're "between." I'm holding on to these words as a I and much of the world goes through this "between" period.

I relate to this a lot. This period of crisis has pushed me to question some expectations I never realized I had for myself and to let go of those expectations, because the truth is, I've been making myself a slave to them. I've made it my main focus to simply learn to live instead of just surviving. Wonderful sharing!

Love this too- maybe recognizing being in between is another good way to think of best is yet to come. Thank you!

A good friend of mine says she is practicing being more of a human being than a human doing and i just love that. Being is so important to our mental health, our physical health, our emotional health, and to our growth.

I am learning. During this time. I know I felt like I HAD to be doing something. But now, I’m learning that I need to just be. Don’t what I want when I want how I want and not feel so bad. Says are flying by hour by hour and it’s too much added stress not to allow self time to do nothing or what you want.
