Hi everyone! I am new to the community but loving all of the content so far! I wanted to reach out and get advice on a couple related things..
I’ve been in Procurement for my entire career (since college) and I’ve loved it up until now I think because of the amazing people I’ve gotten to work with, good collaborative company cultures, and fun projects. When COVID hit, my husband and I relocated from Vegas to Atlanta because I was able to get a new job opportunity and I also was accepted into an EMBA program. Since being with my new company, I feel like I’ve lost the passion and enjoyment for what I do.. considerably as a result of being on boarded remotely/ feeling siloed/ not having a manager with the same communication style and empathy as my previous managers. And yes I’ll say it, he is my first male boss who is a “my way or the highway” type person. With that being said, I’ve also been exposed to many of our HR departments who are doing really great and exciting things in regards to DEI, pay equity, employee engagement, etc. With that being said, I feel really attracted to making a career shift to that side of the business since I really love building relationships, change management, everything about equity and inclusion, and truly understand how all of those things impact the company as a whole. Plus I love contributing and giving back to the community so creating programs where employees can do so safely would be awesome! As someone with purely a “business” background (and I am also currently getting my MBA), is there any advice you would give me on how to make this shift? Either within the company or with a different company?
