I am a recent hire, I’ve been with the organization since December. I know that layoffs usually involve the…

Yes, currently working for a company that has fabricated everything about themselves online, their culture, the roles. I interviewed with the owner and had a 1:1 with him to clarify things before accepting. Plus interview with individuals in two departments. I looked at their LinkedIn, zoominfo, company reviews, and spoke with a person I knew who contracts services for the company.
I had a bad gut feeling but I couldn’t identify any reasons until my first day.
I wonder what other questions I should have asked and feel I should have researched employee turnover before accepting.

While I understand that the job may not fit to a T, and I may need to adjust/pivot a bit. There seems to be a lot of well-respected organizations who are catfishing-- Just filling a seat to collect on the body.
And it seems to be those high-end consulting firms who have their lines in the water. (shame shame.)

A quick google seach defined it as: "Catfishing is the process of luring someone into a relationship by means of a fictional online persona. But a recent survey showed that businesses are also using catfishing-like tactics to attract job candidates under false pretenses."
So when we talk about "Catfishing" we are talking about falsely luring someone into a job position that is not what they are expecting.
