I've recently started a new role and my relationship with my manager quickly turned toxic(takes my ideas and presents them as their own, takes over my meetings, noncommunicative, micromanages, and doesn't seem interested in my growth as a report). We've discussed communication and goals and better ways to work together, but it doesn't seem to be clicking.
I'm unmotivated and think about quitting every day because I know he will take credit for my work and I don't see any growth opportunity. I don't think another conversation with him will change his actions at this point. Is it appropriate to elevate the issue to higher management which also happens to be his manager (small org)? I am interested in staying with the organization, but my current role is extremely draining to my mental health at this point.
