This is a difficult for all of us, but I decided to use this time wisely. The first thing I decided to tactical was my filing system. I had boxes overstuffed with old W-2s, tax returns, and other documents. It was time to get rid of what I no longer needed. This process gave me the clarity that I needed to move forward in my career and life.
As I went through each document and scrubbed it for personal information, before having it shredded, I saw my past unfold. A past filled with challenges and lots of joy. Many of the companies I worked for have either moved out of state, been sold, or have closed. I remember many of my former coworkers, some pleasant and some not so much.
The weekends were spent at Truffles or at It’s It Deli. Truffles was this little coffee shop, before Starbucks, that had the best cinnamon coffee and fresh pastries. It’s It Deli was the hot spot Saturday and Sunday mornings for good conversation and a hearty breakfast. Unfortunately, both of these landmarks closed many years ago.
After visiting my past, I now look forward with a renewed sense of confidence.
