I am in a dilemma about my next career step. (Warning: a long post)
I have been working in my field for 7 years now and from the beginning I wasn't feeling comfortable in my role. I got traumatised already during the education and was wondering if this profession is really going to make me happy. In my first workplace I experienced discrimination and misgony.
Due to the fact that I have studied this discipline that is quite specific, I didn't see the the way to change career without going back to school (which I really couldn't do after graduation because of student depts). So I went on working in that sector.
I have been laid off last year due to a conflict with my boss (the reason: I have been experiencing bossing for the 3rd time in these 7 years). Since then I have been trying to find a new position in a different sector but a lateral entry seems to be impossible without further diploma. In my last workplace I also realised that I am independent, initiative taking and very creative at work. Knowing this I am wondering if I should continue the job search or rather beginn to make a plan regarding self-employment. Besides, I have difficulties imagine working for another boss who would treat me badly.
So, any of you who have had similar experiences? Would a self-employment be the solution? Thanks.

I think it's a good idea to use your intelligence, your hard work and your education /degree- and look for new work, in new field. You sound intelligent and hard working, but this is not a good fit for you. Many industries will hire someone with a very different education, train you, and you can grow in an entirely new field of work. You might take a pay cut, but you will be much happier. It sounds as if English is not your first language, but you have mastered it very very well. I wish you much success. You are not in a good place, Start looking and be open to something very new!

I also fixated on this statement! To the OP: switch fields, get another degree, whatever…you’ll always report up to someone unless you start your own business.
You’ve complained about three supervisors “bossing” you?! This is the essence of their leadership role! The common denominator is you.
Despite your experience & education, it seems like you run into problems with every single employer. Please use this opportunity as an inflection point to better understand how you will approach your next job differently.
