What would you do?
A recruiter for a high profile company reached out to me for a role that can sky rocket my career! It was so crazy when I got the email I thought it was fake. Turns out it is real.
It's a manager position in my field that I've been in for 20+ years. The job pays well over $100K salary that I havent been able to reach until now. I would be working with very high profile people and surrounded by the best of the best in their fields which gives me ultimate networking opportunities and a chance to learn from the best.
Here's my dilemma: I would have to move to a different city (4 hours away), with my husband and 2 year old. There is no relocation assistance. I would have to put my current house up for rent (not going to sell) and find a new place to live.
Also, I have been working from home for the last 4 years and due to a health condition I get monthly treatment at a local hospital. I would have to get used to going back into an office 5 days a week and move all my healthcare to the new city as well. My husband works from home so he doesn't have any issues with moving. My child is in preschool and doing really well and I am hestitant to move him.
AND THE KICKER: The job is only for 2 years until their big event, then it ends and I will have to find new employment.
I have been out of work for 4 months now and need to find work and have been applying without any callbacks.
The thought of moving out of our dream house and moving to a smaller house for a couple years is daunting...the packing, the moving, the storage , the renters etc. It will be stressful for sure.
I have lived in the new city before so I know it well. It will be an adjustment for all of us. But then we would move back to our original home in 2 years.
I've had 1 interview so far that was very promising as long as I am willing to move. Of course I said yes I would move to see how far I get in the interview process. Just not sure how I feel about moving and all the changes.

Preschool and early schooling is probably the best time to relocate with children. 2 years isn't forever, but you'll be NETWORKING the whole time with people who you can let know that you'll be available after this engagement is up. You're already planning to rent, not sell the house, so you'll have a place to go back to and rentals are still hot on the market.
I don't see any reasons NOT to go for it other than the medical/physical aspects and your spouse's job. It would definitely be an adjustment, but somewhere that wants you will absolutely, 100% work with you on your medical stuff. My cousin had kidney failure in his early 20's due to a genetic condition and throughout hiring at high end companies, his medical was accommodated for. When they want YOU, they'll make it work.
