I am helping some friends who were laid off due to COVID and repeatedly they share that they have been "ghosted" after interviews. I had seen it talked about online but assumed it was a handful of small companies. One of my friends interviewed with Philips Healthcare which is a HUGE internationally company, she had 2 interviews and then they went silent. Her emails to the recruiter and hiring manager were ignored. This seems to be common and frankly, IMO, rude and unprofessional.
Can anyone in HR/Recruiting share why this has become acceptable? I can see no business reason to just ignore a candidate.
