I work for a company that shuts down between Christmas and New Year's Day (they call it year end shut down and only finance works). That's nice, but we must take our PTO at that time. It's mandatory. Is that legal?

Since it is their decision to close down, it seems unethical to force employees to use their PTO during that time. The issue is, when it comes to PTO, there is nothing that stops them from doing so. I would see if you could have a meeting with the higher ups to discuss this and have facts prepared to back up your position. Good luck!
