How to stand out in an overcrowded landscape

I interviewed hundreds of sales people over the course of my career and I would always ask them, "what differentiates you from the five people I saw before you and the five people I'll see after you?" I would get one of hot jargon answers of the moment, "I'm a consultative seller, I'm a relationship guy, I'm always closing." It was painful. They had no sense of who they were let alone how they were going to positively impact our business and bottom line. In today's unemployment landscape, the competition has gotten even more fierce. You need to be able to define who you are and what you can accomplish for an organization and declare it succinctly, specifically and originally. Are you prepared to do that? We can help. I copied the link and two of those links didn't take me to the page. Just so you know, a little more clarity on the location and how to get to the page would be great!

That's a great way to ask the question "why should we hire you". I always tried to have an answer that showed 1) I can do the work and deliver outstanding results 2) I possess the skills and experience to excel at the position and 3) I match their culture and would be an excellent addition to the team.

LadyPele that's a great perspective and when you talk about the skills that you have to excel, crafting a story to show how those skills are specific to you adds an extra layer of genius.
