3 style choices that are keeping you from being seen as a successful employee (even remotely)
Even if your meetings for work are exclusively still on Zoom, what you're wearing in the comfort of your home matters — especially if you want to be seen as a successful, prepared, and standout employee. Here are 3 style choices NOT to make when planning your next workday outfit.
1. Wrinkled clothes.
Even when we're at home, it seems impossible to have time to steam our clothes. But it's worth it to forgo a fancy shirt if it means it's wrinkled, especially if those wrinkles are the only thing your co-workers will see on your next virtual meeting.
2. Clothes that don't fit you right.
Whether your clothes are too baggy or too tight, you'll be distracted fixing your outfit rather than focusing on your work. Wearing clothes that fit you right will make you more confident and let you focus on getting your job done.
3. Workout or lounge wear
We may have gotten used to wearing these kinds of clothes in quarantine, but that doesn't mean they're right for our work meetings — whether in-person or remote. Wearing these clothes can give your co-worker or boss the impression that you've got other things on your mind (yoga or taking a nap, even!). Dress for the part, and make sure you're still comfortable.
