The firm I am with is legal counsel to a large, local hospital. We also act as their billing agent for motor vehicle and liability claims. My daily tasks are processing ER reports, talking to patients, searching for liability/auto insurance, working with adjusters and attorneys. Since I started 4 years ago, I was told there was room for advancement, if I wanted to train to be a legal assistant. In that 4 years I have been turned down 3 times when a position comes open. Each time I have been told I am one of the strongest in my department and am too valuable to lose. I sincerely appreciate that compliment but feel I am being unfairly kept in place. There is yet another position open and I feel very strongly that I should make an argument for why I should be given a chance. Any advice? I have over 20 years of admin experience and am going back to school for my AA in Business Administration.
