In my work as a coach and film producer, I believe that new year's resolutions are over-complicated. I often subscribe to the motto "K.I.S.S." (Keep It Simple, Silly).
In that spirit, I offer you this: what are the three words that encompass how you want to BE in the world in 2021? What are the three words that reflect the experience of life you want to have?
I'm toying around with these three: Love, Connection, Joy. I'd love to hear from you - new to the Fairygodboss site and looking to make new connections!

Hi Angie,
I’m new to this site as well.
Love your enthusiasm to start 2021 with feeling instead of goals! I was never much of a resolution person either.
My three words are love, joy and intention.
Cheers,
Robyne

Enjoying the content on FairyGodBoss. Resolutions are not really my thing. Typically I plan for my new year in October. I did not do that this year. The three words though have inspired me. My three words are Freedom, Love, Belonging

What a great idea, Angie!
Your Love, Connection, Joy choices are magnificent.
I’m job-hunting, so three ways to be that I’d like to embody are:
Connection, Giving, Receiving

What a great idea! Like many, I'm not big anymore on resolutions, however, I do like the idea of words that reflect on the life experience I would like to have. What a concept! I would toss these out there for myself:
-empathy
-integrity
-resilient
Enjoying reading everyone's choices-no wrong answers! Love it!

Hello everyone. I just joined this site and yes, as a coach, it's clear that many people are already looking toward the new year with hopes that 2021 will bring more positivity than 2020 offered. I love the "3 words" idea; it helps focus our intent. For me at this particular moment, my words are connection, collaboration, and evolution. It's natural to wish for something more gentle than what many of us have experienced this past year. It is risky to attach ourselves to any outcomes, because this is a dynamic reality with lots of moving parts and things are always in motion. But it is powerful to set our intention of how we want to FEEL into the quantum field in a clear way and then release it to the divine without attaching to any specifics, allowing the divine to work out the "how" of generating that feeling for us. All we need to focus on is how we want to FEEL next year, and trust the divine to the details. As we align ourselves with that intent, the universe aligns reality to meet it...at least, that is my experience :)

I love the idea of The Universe aligning - you put it out there and the universe responds. Evolution is a great choice too!

Every year, I pick my 'word of the year' and it's the word that guides me like a north star.
Ironically last year, my word of the year was lighter.
I wanted to feel lighter and I wanted to help provide light to my clients. Who knew how appropriate (and life saving) the word would be for me).
This year, my word of the year is increase.
In our Facebook Group, Just Gen X - The Resting Mind and our podcast Make Your LIfe Magnficient we're doing an entire series on Word of the Year come January. I think, like Angie, it is such a better way to make a 'resolution.'
It's an intentional way of being.

I have two words from Secretary of State Colin Powell: Perpetual Optimism. I heard him give a presentation this past summer and it encompasses how I want to be every day. If I have to add one more word ... chocolate!!! I especially appreciate the 4 pm treat I have every day.

I love this exercise! I’ve had to think on it quite a bit but these three words will become my mantra for 2021!
Love - hold onto the loving connections with immediate and extended family that have been strengthened because of 2020’s situation
Grow - in reference to a new opportunity at work
Execute - on a dream my husband and I have -this is the year to start!

I am not a resolution person but I did catch on to the idea of having a one-word theme as a guiding principle for the year ahead. I've been brainstorming a lot the past few weeks. I ended up choosing "LIGHT" as my one word, because it encompasses so much. To play off of that theme, three words would be:
enlighten (as in simplify)
delight (as in being joyful)
greenlight (as in go for it!)
Thank you for this exercise!
