Socializing During the Era of Social Distancing

Lately I've been trying to figure out how to socialize again during this pandemic. I hadn't really noticed until recently just how isolated I had been feeling, especially living by myself for the first time. The realization came out of nowhere and it's been making me feel a little down. So I'm trying to find ways to be social that are low cost and fun. I live about an hour away from my family and friends, so getting together can be difficult. Plus even if I felt brave enough to go out, my budget won't allow. My mom suggested starting a book club or doing a girls night/check in via zoom, both ideas that I love. I just want to get to a place where I have some semblance of a life again lol.

In addition to the wonderful ideas above, consider searching for Facebook groups or Meetups in your area to find others to go on a socially distanced outdoor walk. Even just going to a popular park by yourself with a book or a picnic can help you feel connected to other people. Who knows, you may strike up a conversation with a stranger!

I'm thinking about venturing out to a park around the corner from my house, its actually really cute lol, I'm just not a fan of bugs. But I think with the weather getting cooler, it might not be so bad so thank you!

Are there causes you care about or anything you’re feeling passionate about? I hear you on a tight budget, but volunteering at your local food bank or for a mutual aid group might help you also get that energy from being physically in the same place as other people!

I would love to volunteer with young adults and kids, specifically something creative (like painting or something with books). Or just volunteer in general, I'm just not sure where to start.

I hear you on wanting to feel like you have a life again. The pandemic has been so difficult! I think the idea of doing an online book club or girls night on Zoom is a great idea! It allows you to make a connection in a socially distanced way and doesn't cost anything either.
