I've been w/ my current company 90 days, and my new boss seems to be knowledgeable in the field, but lacks ppl skills. I'm not sure if it's just he's really busy, he lacks soft skills, or both. He's absentee and a "I need it now" kind of person. I don't necessarily mind the absentee part so much since I do better working independently as opposed to micro managed. He could definitely work on the basic pleasantries like hello, good morning, etc. The team that I'm leading has done a good job of helping me feel welcomed and doing the initial onboarding w/ me.
I'd like to be successful in my new role especially since I've experienced this type of manager in the past who wasn't available or supportive, and it didn't go so well. I was able to get on my new boss's calendar for a weekly one-on-one just to touch base for 30 mins. so that's a step in the right direction. I'm not new to the financial field, but I'm new to real estate, and I think the co. is great and that I could learn a lot. I want to make sure I get all I can get out of this experience and be successful as well. Since my boss isn't really a trainer/coach type of person, I think a mentor would be good and provide the growth and support that I'm looking for. I'm not sure how to go about finding one though. Any suggestions?
