I was discussing with my son that even though Christmas is over, the giving season is not over. We worked very hard before christmas making fabric ornaments for our friends and family so they could smile and be connected (getting those sent out asap), we used our coupons for cleaners, laundry detergents, and food. We then took some of it home and donated the rest to our people in our community we knew who could use it.
We cleaned out our closets and donated to the coat drive, took old toys with life in them to a thrift store who desperately needed them.
The lesson here was while this seems like alot of work on our part, its a small drop in bucket. I wanted my son to understand we can do this all year as long as we can budget allowing. And that this work is not about the gratitude its about putting aside any differences and knowing how much you can learn as a community.

Good job on you. One way you can continue it is to buy one or two extra canned goods at every shopping trip. Set them aside in a box and, when full, donate it to a food bank. Food banks need help all year long but folks don't think of it often. Also, they are always in need of feminine products. Think of how expensive those are! If you could - put a box of pads or tampons in the give away box every time you buy a package.

Yes I totally agree on the tampons and pads. I have actually clipped every coupon and been getting those at walgreens. I look at it this way, one box for myself, one for donation. Walgreens gives great savings with the walgreens cash which I then apply towards other needed items. We don’t have alot of money so coupons and savings help us help the community

HA HA - now I'm laughing at myself! I'm beyond the need for feminine products so I have never thought of saving those coupons for buying them as gifts! God put you in my life for a reason. :)
