So I have been doing some contract work with a company. I really like it. My reports/ contacts are super nice and I like what I'm doing. So there's an opportunity for a permanent position but I'm not feeling 100% about it. Here's why - first, they've offered me a base salary, which is fine. It's not terrible, but what bothers me is that they said there's no range and this amount is not negotiable. I've never heard of that. Second, I've asked 3 times if vacation and benefits were negotiable to make up for the cut I'd take to go in full time. They haven't answered. I'm starting to get the feeling they're trying to get me cheap and if they don't answer maybe I'll stop asking? Third, the person who is supposed to speak with me about the position that will be my colleague and possibly someone I'm reporting to is off right now with a stress related illness.
Am I being paranoid or does this seem like a high demand position that they are trying pull me in with a mediocre salary? I'm talking to someone there about it today and I'm trying to figure out how to approach it. Does anyone have any suggestions?
