Also I don’t know if you are familiar with Christian Healthcare ministries, or if you have any affiliations with any religion, but when I was self employed and later unemployed I joined one that had been in business for 30 years and had good reputation.....they are not really legally insurance but coverage is reasonable and deductibles reasonable. It’s cost per month was less than a third of any insurance plan I could buy.

Your state should have an individual “catastrophe” level plan that is low cost. Or Medicare if you can claim disability. Medicaid, if you are un- or under-employed, as it’s income based. The new plan won’t help with previous bills though, but will give you peace of mind.
You might seek out a financial advisor through your community bank or city senior service office to help with the debt. They can recommend programs to get you back on your feet and help you avoid scams. There is also another stimulus check coming.
If you are feeling down or are too proud to accept government support, don’t be hard on yourself. My youngest was actually covered by Medicaid when my husband lost his banking job a few years ago. And I remember growing up times when my family had to accept food stamps and reduced school lunch. It’s a support system that we’ve paid for with our taxes so it will be there for us when we need it. You’ll be on your feet again.

You have found yourself where many others are as well and it’s just awful. In my state, MA, there are no low cost plans unless you have little to no income and many disqualify you if you had income last year but have since been laid off. If you do find yourself needing care, negotiate with the provider, this is true for past bills as well. Offer to send $25 a week or whatever you can afford to keep your account in good standing.
