Early on in my career, I worked for two of the top local accounting firms. During tax season, there was an unspoken rule that you did not leave the company during that time.
It was almost like a code of honor in the industry.
I am now actively seeking employment and am faced with a similar dilemma. In my job search, I am applying for both project work and permanent employment.
If I accept project work and a permanent job comes along, what is the best approach to take without burning any bridges?
I would give the company two weeks notice, but I need to think about what's right for me in the long-term. After all, that permanent job may not be available after the project is over.
