I'm in the final stages of possibly landing a job at a phenomenal company out of state, in an area I'd love to move to. My SO and I would rent out there but we need to sell our house first. His job is flexible so no issue there and we don't have kids. Luckily we live in a desirable area where the houses…

Since then, I’ve been actively applying for jobs but rarely hear back. When asked why I’m looking for a new job in interviews, I haven’t always been sincere, giving different reasons. Recently, I decided to be upfront and told an interviewer that I was made redundant. But their response thre…

SHRM right now is not having one of its better PR moments as a company, and although I see the value. It's interesting you say tech side, not sure what you mean, to be clear. What I don't read in your snapshot is 'people', HR is about people no matter what area or silo you're working in in HR. You mentioned onboarding, what about learning and development? TA is tough right now, may not see a lot of openings and I bet you can speak more to it than you think. TA is not the same in every org, meaning centralized recruiting vs field recruitment process. You'll find your next journey, not the best time of year here in about a month to expect alot of opportunities so be patient.

My SHRM-SCP expired earlier this year - I didn't realize I was that close to expiring but in the end, I didn't stress it. I didn't find it as valuable as what I was led to believe it would be. I've been in HR nearly 15 years now, currently a manager. My experience was gained largely by talking on the projects and assignments no one else wanted to do. I've touched a little bit of everything: payroll, benefits, immigration, compliance, performance management/improvement, training, onboarding/offboarding, relocations, etc. I do have a BS in HRM - graduated in 2008 as a nontraditional student and took about two years to get a job in HR - starting as a admin assistant within an HR department (I got that job through Robert Half), stayed there for 10 years. The job market is so competitive these days, and I think more important than certification is keeping up with trends. It's important to not pigeonhole yourself in one specific area and understand that HR is becoming more of a strategic rather than administrative function.
