Ageism is real. Don't let anyone tell you anything otherwise. If they hire you, they can't easily fire you.

You mean they CAN easily fire you. Age has no difference when it comes to layoffs , RIF or firing. The only caveat is that someone over age 40 has extra time to review a severance package, IF one is offered. Other than that, zero difference.
