Is it ever okay to say, "I want to become a FTE so that I can start to think about having a family"?
My husband and I are getting close to being ready to have kids. I have been employed by a company, but technically as a contractor through three successive staffing companies. I am tired of having to switch staffing companies, the insurances they come with, and each indirect employment circumstance. Every time I switch, my health insurance goes up in the air and I restart on my deductible. I would have asked to be moved over to FTE directly through the company I actually do the work for before now, but COVID has changed things. I want to be able to discuss getting moved over to FTE before the beginning of the year so I am steadier and have a stable health insurance, but I don't know how to do that, and I never know when it is okay to talk about family planning or personal matters like that. And then talk about the complicating factor of COVID too. Advice?
