3/4 of my organization's staff was let go due to Covid.
At the time the management and HR stressed that if you see a job posted be sure to apply for it as no lay offs were due to performance, but Covid. At the time they all looked really upset about the layoffs. I grant funded, part time job became available for which I am fully qualified, as in I used to do the exact same job with a different organization for years. I appled for the part time job just about a month ago knowing that the previous employee was not going to be applying for it. I have not even gotten a thank you for applying note/email. I took being laid off pretty well I thought. I mean...its a world pandemic. I am not taking the complete silence well at all. I find it humiliating and it has hurt my feelings. I don't even care if I get the job, I would just have liked a decent rejection letter given that I was a past employee in good standing.
