I have been with the same company for over 10 years but lately I have been really struggling to stay motivated.
I requested a raise in August and was declined (in fairness, I didn’t realize at the time we were facing potential layoffs due to a slow down in business...thanks pandemic.)
However, I feel like now I’m under more scrutiny. Specifically having my productivity monitored - having to report how many hours a day I spend on what tasks - while no one else has to report like this.
We don’t have an HR department which means that I would have to go over my boss’s head to a partner (I’m a manager) and I can’t think of a way to discuss how much I’m actually doing that doesn’t throw my boss under the bus. I don’t want to do that because I’m pretty confident it would just backfire.
I have daydreamed about just quitting but I started with the company right after university and I’m honestly not sure what I would want to do instead.
Is there a way to fix this situation or do I just really need to figure out an exit strategy?
