A week or so ago I received a written warning for clocking in off property.
While I admit I was wrong, I disagreed with the some of the warning because my supervisor implied on 2 specific dates I was verbally warned and that is untrue. I had never been spoken to at all. I might add my supervisor is fairly new in the company and in her role. I asked HR if I could put a statement in my personel file just explaining the circumstances surrounding why I clocked in off campus and that the verbal warnings are not true. When I met with HR she stated that regardless of whether or not it was true or not I was wrong. She then went on to say that a client complained about me bad mouthing management to her and was quite upset. This never happened as I would never do that. They could not provide details when I asked for them nor could they give me a date, and when I asked why I was never questioned about it the reply was “ oh I guess they were still investigating it” no indication of who “they” were. They then proceeded to terminate me. They offered me 4 weeks severance in exchange for not suing them. I’m at a loss as to what to do. I have what is considered an entry level position and have been with the company three and a half years. I’ve never been disciplined at work in my life and I am 57. While I am trying to accept my part in all this and he accountable I feel that something is “off” any suggestions on how to proceed would be helpful to me.
