I lost my job 7 months ago and have been diligently looking for work. It has been a very tough market as you know. Last week I received two offers (yay!) but now I am unsure of which direction to go.
Option 1 is customer service and completely different from my previous positions. It would require a relocation but it has a decent salary and great benefits.
Option 2 is temp to perm and is local. It’s similar to what I’ve been doing and the team seems amazing. The temp pay is fairly low and I will have to stay with family until it turns perm. The hiring manager confirmed in writing that this would be temp 90 days or less. No benefits are included. Glassdoor indicates fairly decent salaries but of course I am concerned of getting low balled after the temp period. I live in an expensive city and this pay is not enough to live on long term.
I’m conflicted on which option to go with. Anyone had success with temp to perm? Do you think it’s too risky in this job market?
I’m also concerned that I’ll get through 90 days and get dumped since that could certainly happen.
Thank you for your advice!
