Hello! I would file this concern under the topic of Ageism, and for me this goes either way.
For example, if a woman has the name Edith. While this could be the result of a family heritage, this particular name ranks around the 500-mark in terms of popularity nowadays. People may see the name and assume the person to be much older than they are.
The same could go the other way. As it happens older names are making a comeback. So a person of 25 could also be named Edith. And losing opportunities because of it.
Your concerns are valid. Some suggestions:
Use only the first initial of your first name
Use your middle name
Use the first initials of your first and middle name
Use the first initial of your first name and your full middle name
Use a nickname.
I confess, the above is assuming you have a middle name and that you don't fear it's aging as well!
