Working with the 'over the top boss'

So I recently started at a new job. I was offered the position because I had a relationship with both the VP (she was my former manager) and the manager was also someone I worked with. I really enjoy working with both of these women and they are amazing! Our new director is awesome, I love his energy but I can see that my manager is sometimes a bit turned off by him. For me, this type of leadership is great!! But I can see where this might turn off those that are not as excited - if you get what I mean. How do you handle working with someone whose energy doesn't match yours? Either yours is more over the top or even keel. How do you help those around you understand what makes you feel most comfortable.

I have worked for an 'over-the-top-boss.' Some were put off by the overly energized characteristics, but as they continued to work in the electric-always team-centered- environment, they grew to respect the boss' passion for our work and what we produced. Most importantly, the boss' behavior ALWAYS came from a place of love, support, human respect and uber loyalty to our unique skills. Great values and character traits can help temper the view of working with a 'energizer bunny' boss.

As a expert in workplace relationships I think every manager needs to learn how to read the room. If he/she is making someone uncomfortable then he/she most likely has not taken the time to bring everyone on board and build trust before being him/herself. Ultimately not everyone will love everyone, it really comes down to respect and fairness. Once that is established most people may role their eyes but they can deal with all kinds of behavior when trust is present.
