I was laid off in May 2024. This was my third layoff (for a total of 5) in the last 5 years.

I second the recommendation to meet with someone in the field. I recently had a similar session with someone seeking to change fields. By sitting together and having her explain exactly what her duties were in her previous positions, I was able to help her highlight her relevant experience, most of which wasn't even close to what a hiring manager in her current field would expect. She had way more relevant experience than either of us expected, but it took both of us working on it together to see that.

I jumped from healthcare to manufacturing about 5 years ago. I would recommend a resume service to assist, if funds allow. If not, read through a procurement job description and transpose some of your skills into hypothetical situations. Maybe reach out to someone in procurement and get insight from within your desired department. I would be lying if I didn’t say I also prayed over the situation. Repeatedly. Whichever route you choose, good luck!

Thank you for the suggestion. I will look into a resume service and talking to someone in that field. Congratulations on your shift.
