YOU CAN’T ALWAYS PUT YOUR FINGER ON IT

Sometimes it’s hard to explain. You aren’t sure why, but you KNOW you need a change. You may like your coworkers and even the company culture, but something is missing...something is off. And it’s a big something because it’s making you really unhappy at work. Honestly, who wants to live like that? Not anyone I know. But the women I work with are driven and focused, so not being able to put their finger on the problem drives them C R A Z Y!! Am I speaking your thoughts out loud? So, let me be blunt. Stop searching for the problem and trust your gut that it’s time to make a change. Figuring out that change comes next. For now, just acknowledge that moving on is okay. Questions?

I think when you can't articulate that "thing," you definitely need to pay attention to it. It's one thing to have something that goes against your morals and work ethics slapped in your face. It's easy to say, "THAT, right there, that's why." There's tangible evidence, easy for others to believe. But when you try to explain to someone else, you often feel their disbelief and reflect it back. "Maybe I'm overreacting, maybe it's not that bad." When you have that feeling, LISTEN to it. Sometimes the worst thing we can do is try to logic our feelings away.

Absolutely, Jen! We always want to dismiss our emotions and think logically, but our emotions and intuition can typically guide us better than our logical brain/ego.

Intuition is built up from your past experiences and relationships. So if something doesn't feel right then it is the culmination of your experience talking to you and this holds a lot of weight. I would recommend writing down about the experience and then read it back. The answer may just jump back out at you. It may well be time to move on but taking the time to try and find the route of the issue may help to avoid the same thing happening again.

Totally agree, Lisa. I think so many women remain stuck in this place because it's not one big thing. It is important to get to the route of the issue, but sometimes it's easier to do that once you've moved on and you're on "in" it anymore. But, yes, the self-discovery piece is so important.

Same! Feeling this way saps all energy out of the day! This could be a combination of lots of little issues that seem small in isolation. Looking at the bigger picture may help you make a decision one way or the other. I hope you get out of it soon and are able to move forward!

Yes, Preeti, exactly! Luckily, I'm not feeling that way but so many women I work with are...so I thought it was important to put it out there! Thanks for your reply.

It's a tough one to be in...we want to know so bad the WHY...but it can actually be a combination of a lot of little things. Happy to talk through it with you if you want to message me.
